Unlike the Tigers, Shermans won. :-p
And were faster. And more maneuvrable. And had better off-road abilities. And were overall easier to repair. :-p

And also ran on gas, rather than diesel, and had inferior armor, and firepower.

Well, Tigers I and II weren't powered on diesel, were they ?
4 out of 5 Shermans had inferior punch, since only 1 out of 5 had the 17 pdr British gun, a gun that made many German tankers get white hair just thinking about it.

Remember how the British nicknamed the first Shermans Ronsons ? ^^
Always lights up at the first strike.

I don't know, but the gasoline made them burn much more, and more vulnerable to shrapnel.
